This piece is a handcrafted Mid-Autumn lantern made from dó paper and painted with gouache, blending the vivid opacity of the medium with the organic texture of traditional Vietnamese paper. At its center, a crane spreads its wings beneath a crimson moon, surrounded by floating clouds and blooming flowers—symbols of longevity, grace, and the harmony between heaven and earth. The intricate cloud and floral motifs draw inspiration from the divine robes of goddesses in Đạo Mẫu (Mother Goddess worship), where sacred beauty meets folk artistry.
More than a festive ornament, the lantern embodies a fusion of spirituality, nature, and cultural heritage, captured through fluid brushwork and the balanced circular composition—echoing the eternal rhythm of the moon, of life, and of faith.
